Dear Humanity, Love War
by Anna Bennett The world around me falls silent As I march down the halls These shackles are ever-binding And I feel them weighing me down But I just keep marching I listen to a steady beat To help keep my pace Don't run, but don't slow down The growing noise is deafening So I just keep marching A million years old now And the world is still the same People really never change And this is all that keeps me sane I just have to keep marching Year after year after year I continue to trudge along No skip to my walk, no happy dancing Just the same, silent, heartless MARCHING I am war I am death I am silence Yet I am you And you keep me marching As long as there is you, I can never stop marching. Anna Bennett is a junior at Walkersville High School. She has been writing songs and poetry ever since she can remember. The first song she ever wrote was for her best friend at the time and she still keeps it in her heart. Writing is her greatest passion, and has been a constant in her life, allowing her to have a great outlet for her feelings and views on society. Whether it's songs, poems, short stories, or a novel, she'll always be in the corner writing. |
