I Knew
by Frances Davis
When I met you I knew
My world would change forever,
Shoulders bumped,
Coffee spilled
Eyes met
Hearts beating
And that second I knew
I saw from the moment my eyes locked onto yours
Blue meeting hazel
That our fates would be forever entangled
Words exchanged in hurried mutters
Nervous laughter
Flushed faces
I knew you would be…
I knew with one glance
One moment touching your hand
as we grabbed for our strewn objects
As I smelled the faint scent of pine
Traced on your clothing
As we walked away with our final goodbyes
And a handshake lasting a second too long
I licked my lips and grinned
The moment I met you...
I knew you would be my next meal.
My world would change forever,
Shoulders bumped,
Coffee spilled
Eyes met
Hearts beating
And that second I knew
I saw from the moment my eyes locked onto yours
Blue meeting hazel
That our fates would be forever entangled
Words exchanged in hurried mutters
Nervous laughter
Flushed faces
I knew you would be…
I knew with one glance
One moment touching your hand
as we grabbed for our strewn objects
As I smelled the faint scent of pine
Traced on your clothing
As we walked away with our final goodbyes
And a handshake lasting a second too long
I licked my lips and grinned
The moment I met you...
I knew you would be my next meal.
