He said I was perfect
I just had to change a few things
My hair, my weight, the way I dressed
But he liked they way I sing
He told me I was worth it
That I should never change
He said he loved my humor
Just don't keep it the same
He said that I was pretty
That I had everyone beat
But he hated my favorite perfume
Which he wanted me to delete
He told me I was ugly
So I changed the way I laughed
I wore different clothes
Hoping he would love me back
He said that I would be better
If I said less words
So I let him talk more often
Because that's what he preferred
He told me I was gentle,
But apparently I could be mean
He said my sass wasn't funny
Which he wanted me to delete
He told me I was going crazy
And that day he crossed the line
Right away he dismissed it
But he never did apologize
And he never understood
What went on inside my head
Told me he was supportive
But he tore me down instead
All the while I was with him,
I always looked down at my feet
Took me too long to realize
It was him I had to delete
I just had to change a few things
My hair, my weight, the way I dressed
But he liked they way I sing
He told me I was worth it
That I should never change
