My Water
by Jon Massey You were the rain Leaving me cold Making me shield my heart Without a rain jacket You left me shivering Yet I walked without an umbrella And did it gladly Until it didn’t stop You were the monsoon And I was neck deep I was drowning In you You gave me life As you were my water I was more than 70% you Yet I was always thirsty Of your love That was Never pure I drank Getting sicker Colder Slowly dying Slipping under You were the monsoon Nothing more You were the rain As the rain doesn’t care who drowns Jonathan Massey is a senior at Linganore High School.
