Tanka Montage: 11 November 1943
by Christian Due Light rain falls on them, The mothers and children flee At soldiers’ command. Grim procession through the streets With fear following after. Flee the outstretching Claws of fascism, which gave The town to Germans. They took the men to the front. War is at the threshold now. Where is salvation? The chapel outside of town. Pray for us, Mother, Madonna who intercedes For souls in Purgatory. Ash on the wind and Fire on the horizon. Sounds of explosions. Our Rosello of ages Past is now dust and rubble. |
