Meditation
by Beau Cameron
I attempt to clear my mind;
find the peaceful void,
but you keep cluttering my head.
Focus on breathing
In
Out
In
Out
but the rhythm reminds me of your heartbeat.
As I search for silence
I hear your melodious laugh.
When I think of stillness
I picture you dancing.
I see the twirl of your skirt
the upturn of your lips
the light of your eyes.
The only darkness I find
is that of your hair.
As I search for peace
I envision you,
who has taken root
in my heart
so that you invade
my every moment.
[Or perhaps it’s merely because
you won’t stop humming.]
find the peaceful void,
but you keep cluttering my head.
Focus on breathing
In
Out
In
Out
but the rhythm reminds me of your heartbeat.
As I search for silence
I hear your melodious laugh.
When I think of stillness
I picture you dancing.
I see the twirl of your skirt
the upturn of your lips
the light of your eyes.
The only darkness I find
is that of your hair.
As I search for peace
I envision you,
who has taken root
in my heart
so that you invade
my every moment.
[Or perhaps it’s merely because
